Service
Certificate management that survives the audit.
Most of the economic value of biomethane sits in the certificate. We run your chains of custody across national systems such as Nabisy and the German Biogas Register (dena BGR), and in future the Union Database (UDB) — with sound mass balancing as the foundation.
What matters
Without a certificate, biomethane is just natural gas.
- Starting point: Several registers, several certification schemes, different deadlines and data models. The bikosigma answer: One party responsible for all registers and schemes, with a single deadline calendar.
- Starting point: Gaps in the mass balance surface in the audit — and then the volume is no longer eligible. The bikosigma answer: An unbroken mass balance from injection to end use, documented and verifiable.
- Starting point: Double use or wrong allocation of volumes leads to reversal, reputational damage and significant economic losses. The bikosigma answer: Unambiguous allocation of every volume, technically protected against double use.
- Starting point: Scheme changes and rule changes (RED III and national ordinances such as the German Biokraft-NachV and BioSt-NachV) force continuous adaptation. The bikosigma answer: We track rule changes and implement them in your processes before they bite.
Scope
What we take on concretely.
- 01
Mass balancing
Running mass balance accounts and the mass balance documentation.
- 02
Nabisy
Management of Nabisy accounts, issuing and transfer of proofs of sustainability.
- 03
German Biogas Register
Implementation of plant and operational audit documentation, batch management, register extracts and transfers.
- 04
Documentation
Audit-proof filing of all certificates, traceability at batch level.
- 05
Quota registration
Preparation of the quota registration.
- 06
Reporting
Clear reporting on account balances and movements.
Certificate registries
The registries in which we manage your certificates.
Each registry has its own data models, deadlines and access rules. We bring them together for you and keep volumes consistent across all registries.
- In preparation
EU · UDB
Union Database
EU-wide database for tracing renewable fuels under RED III. Mandatory use for biomethane and the interface with Nabisy are not yet fully settled.
- Active
Germany · BLE
Nabisy
Sustainable biomass system of the German Federal Office for Agriculture and Food. Proofs of sustainability for biofuels, including for the GHG quota.
- Active
Germany · dena BGR
German Biogas Register
Origin and quality of biomethane for the EEG, heat and buildings. Injection and withdrawal entries, transfers, register extracts.
- In preparation
Germany · HKNR
Guarantee of origin registry
Guarantees of origin for gas from renewable sources: issuance, transfer and cancellation.
- In preparation
EU
RFNBO
Certification of renewable fuels of non-biological origin, such as e-methane and e-LNG.
Regulatory framework
What we work against.
RED III
European framework for renewable energy, sustainability criteria and the Union Database (Art. 31a).
Delegated Regulations (EU) 2023/1184 and 2023/1185
Requirements and GHG methodology for renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO).
Biokraft-NachV / BioSt-NachV
German sustainability ordinances for biofuels and biomass power, the basis for Nabisy.
EEG 2023 / GModG
Proof of biomethane for German EEG remuneration and for the bio-step in buildings, kept in the German Biogas Register.
HkNRG / GWKHV
German acts on the guarantee of origin registry for gas, heat and cooling.
REDcert EU · ISCC EU
Recognised voluntary schemes for mass balance and sustainability.
A volume without a solid certificate is, in an audit, not a volume.
