Market segment
Biomethane in industry.
Process heat can rarely be electrified. For many industrial operations biomethane is the only short-term lever to cut scope 1 emissions and allowance cost.
Context
The lever works immediately — if the evidence is right.
High-temperature processes, steam generation, existing burner installations: switching energy carrier is often technically impossible or requires investment that cannot be justified over the remaining asset life. Biomethane replaces natural gas without technical change.
Economically it works through two routes: relief of liable volumes under national emissions trading and, from 2028, ETS 2, and the statement of renewable origin in sustainability reports and towards customers with their own supply chain requirements.
Both routes require certificates managed so that verifiers accept them. We take that on — from procurement assessment to the emissions report.
What matters
The operational points.
- 01
Volume delineation
Determining liable volumes and the biogenic share per installation and reporting period.
- 02
Emissions report
Preparation and submission under nEHS, preparation for ETS 2 from 2028.
- 03
Procurement assessment
Checking offered volumes for origin, GHG value and eligibility before signing.
- 04
Reporting readiness
Documentation for sustainability reports and customer supply chain requirements.
